Due to Eugene and Maria heading to Provo, Utah to choreograph Brigham Young University’s (BYU) Formation Team’s Latin Medley, the Junior and Adult Latin Seminars will be cancelled on August 6th and 7th, respectively. Eugene and Maria’s talent and gift for choreographing some of the world’s most intricate Latin routines is what made them such a hot commodity for choreographing one of the best formation team’s in the United States. They will be preparing the BYU Formation Team for the 2013 Blackpool Dance Festival formation team competition. Blackpool is regarded as the world’s most prestigious competition and we are honored to choreograph BYU’s Latin Medley.
Congratulations to all the Brooklyn DanceSport Club Couples who competed at the 2012 Blackpool Dance Festival!
The Blackpool Dance Festival is one of the most prestigious ballroom dance competitions in the world. It is held every year at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, England at the end of May. This historic annual event features age categories as young as Under-21 (16-20) to Senior (35 and over). With past winners such as Bryan Watson and Carmen, Donnie Burns and Gaynor Fairweather, and Christopher Hawkins & Hazel Newberry, and over 250 competitors in each category, it is easy to see why this is one of the most prestigious competitions every year!

We the staff at BDSC would like to wish all of these couples the best of luck and we hope that all their hard work and dedication on the practice floor will pay off!
Marat Gimaev and Alina Basyuk will be competing in the Professional Standard event and fighting for a spot in that final, a spot they only missed by a few recalls last year.

Pasha Stepanchuk and Anastasia Danilova have never competed in Blackpool together, but separately have had a lot of success in the competition in the past. They will be competing in the Rising Star Amateur Latin and the Amateur Latin events.
Jason Dai and Patrycja Golak will try to make the last year they’re eligible to dance Under-21 Latin as successful as possible! They will also compete in the Rising Star Amateur Latin event.

All these couples have been working tirelessly at the studio, practicing for hours every single day. We wish all these couples the best of luck and these couples are already lucky to be having Eugene Katsevman and Maria Manusova as a part of their support team!

BDSC’s April first started off with hosting 2 of the greatest Latin couples in the world, Michael Malitowski with Joanna Leunis and Sergey Sourkov with Agnieszka Melnicka. Michael and Joanna taught private lessons and a seminar at the studio on April 12th while Sergey and Melia taught a couple of private lessons on April 13th! It was amazing seeing such talented dancers teach our students and the energy and vibe that they give off is truly astonishing!
Following the visit, a group of BDSC couples (Denys Drozdyuk and Antonina Skobina, Pasha Stepanchuk and Anastasiya Danilova, Jason Dai and Patrycja Golak, Dmitry Nikishkin and Olena Shvets, Guy Platt and Victoria Mroz, Stas Pavlov and Beatrice Polyakova, and Ryan Raffloer and Shelby Joy Cole) performed at this year’s Dance Legends. The show, which was choreographed by BDSC’s very own Eugene Katsevman and Maria Manusova, was quite breath-taking and was received very well by the crowd, with some people even giving a standing ovation.
Quite possibly the most exciting news of April thus far were the results of our Junior couples at the Junior Blackpool Festival. Patryk Ploszaj and Anna Kaczmarski had an incredible Junior Blackpool experience, placing 10th (out of 170) at the Junior Latin and 5th (out of 125) at the Junior Jive. Christian Yeung and Alexis Turko also had a successful Blackpool, placing 52nd (out of 170) at the Junior Latin and 36th (out of 125) at the Junior Jive. Larry Tokar and Juliana Hoff’s best result came at the Junior Samba, where they placed 32nd (out of 164).
